I never really planned to come on DeviantArt much, but my website isn't working, and my incredibly slow internet won't let me download episode 66 of Bleach. So you can probably guess that I'm just a bit bored.

By Wednesday morning, I'll be on a plane to China. So today, I went to my uncle's house to drop off my cat, Edward, for him and his wife to take care of until February 7. While we were there, my mum and I cooked sausages, beef, lamb and chicken wings on their barbecue.

Well, I might go draw something now. I know my dear friend Maggie would love it if I spent more time working on things I could upload onto here.

I've been in China for about a week and I hate/love this place.

I hate how there's so many people everywhere we go.

I love how one Australian dollar is worth approximately four and a half Chinese dollars.

I hate how it's so polluted.

I love how there's so many different anime magazines to buy.

I hate how I can't read anything in Chinese.

I love how I found an awesome anime shop with loads of Bleach merchandise.

I hate how they only sell Bleach DVDs with Chinese, not English, subtitles.

I love how we can still eat at McDonald's and KFC.

Okay, I'm going to Beijing for a few days to see the Great Wall of China and some other tourist attractions.
That means I won't be able to go online for the next five days or so (unless I find some way to get the internet working on my iPod Touch...).

Last Wednesday night, I was on a train from Shanghai to Beijing with my mum, dad and auntie. That was where I was when the year changed to 2009. So the first thing I did this year was using my iPod to watch Bleach while eating strawberry Pocky.

The next day, we arrived in Beijing, and met up with our tour guide. She always held a small yellow flag so that our tour group would know where to go; that's why I always referred to her as 'flag person' (haha, good thing she doesn't understand English).

Ugh, I just came back from a tour of Beijing two days ago, and now my parents, my aunt and I are going on another tour - this time around some place called Sichuan. And this time it's going to last seven days.

We're taking a plane tomorrow morning, then probably just spending the rest of the day settling into the hotel. But apparently there are going to be four plane rides while we're there, 'cause we're visiting lots of different mountains and stuff. I hope my feet survive... I don't think they've fully recovered yet from walking all over Beijing.

01/15/09--03:19: Sichuan (chan 2065281)




Yesterday, I got back from a seven-day tour around Sichuan. We went up to quite a few mountains but most of the time there was a mini-bus taking us to the sightseeing spots so it wasn't so tiring. My feet feel much better now than when I got back from Beijing.

Ugh, one thing I truly hated about Sichuan was the food. Since it's almost always cold there, they really like to eat spicy food. But luckily, they still had non-spicy food (sometimes). I mostly just ate noodles, dumplings and some dessert-like food.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Yes, I know, it's not until the 26th, but at that time I will be staying at my mum's parents' apartment where there is no internet. I'm leaving for their home later today, so I'm spending these last few hours desperately downloading low-quality Bleach episodes off YouTube so I have something to do during my four days of being internet-deprived.

Well, my school had a free dress day on Friday. And guess what me and my friends did - we went to school in cosplay!

I wore a pleated grey skirt with a white shirt and grey coat, as well as knee-length black socks. Jen also lent me some red ribbon for me to make a bow. I was trying to look like Rukia in her school uniform from Bleach.

On Wednesday, when I told Jen what I was going to wear, she asked if she could borrow the Byakuya costume I bought in China. 03/09/09--02:13: 8 Hours Non-Stop Anime.. (chan 2065281)




Today was Labor Day, which meant no school - yay! So Nichola decided to use the chance to try and catch up to where I am in Bleach. That was quite impossible to achieve in one day seeing as I'm on episode 158 and she was up to 75.

Nichola came to my house this morning at about quarter past eleven. We immediately locked ourselves (and a lot of snacks) in my room so we could watch Bleach on my laptop. We were up to the Bount arc, which everyone knows is a very long 46-episode filler arc that causes anyone who watches it to almost die of boredom. Nichola didn't have the patience to watch it all. So, lunchtime today was just like any other day. I was sitting with my friends and we were talking about anime like always. Then, Jen suddenly hits me on the shoulder with her lunchbox.
Apparently, there was a scary-looking bug sitting there. Then Nichola joins Jen in helping to get the bug off of me. They're both hitting my left shoulder with their lunchbox. But since they're so scared of it, it's not very effective.
It was very funny watching them scream in fear of the bug while I was just standing there. I'm not sure if it really looked scary since I couldn't see it.

This weekend, my friends and I are going to this Pop Culture Expo. thing called Supanova. Mainly because there's anime and Vic Mignogna's going to be there, too. We're going for the whole day on Saturday and Sunday, as well as the Preview Night on Friday (tomorrow). So today, we started counting down the hours until Supanova. Right now, it's 24 and a half hours, and counting...

I'm going to cosplay as Yuko Ichihara, wearing a red dress like the one she wore in the xxxHolic movie. My friends are going as Dark (DN Angel) and Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist). On Sunday, another two of our friends may also be coming, as Sloth (Fullmetal Alchemist)


03/29/09--05:04: Supanova '09 (Part One - Preview Night) (chan 2065281)




Supanova was so much fun! Escaping reality to experience a world populated with cosplayers and anime freaks for an entire weekend was awesome!

It all started Friday afternoon when Nichola, Jen and I were in Nichola's uncle's mini-van, on our way to the Melbourne Showgrounds. I was in my Yuko (xxxHolic) cosplay consisting of a red dress and heels. Jen had whipped together a last-minute costume just after school of Himawari (also from xxxHolic). And Nichola just wore a pink dress and black boots.

Unfortunately, since Jen had decided to cosplay suddenly, we were a bit late and missed the opening ceremony and introduction to Vic Mignogna -


04/01/09--00:03: Supanova '09 (Part Two - Saturday) (chan 2065281)




Last Saturday, I got up and was dressed in my Yuko cosplay by 8am, ready for a full day of Supanova. But when I got to Jen's house soon after, I found out she had only gotten up half an hour earlier and the rest of our friends weren't planning to meet up with us until 10am. So Jen and I just hung out for a few hours, fixing our hair (in her case, a blonde wig), watching episode 49 of Soul Eater, eating strawberry pocky, etc.

Sunday morning, Jen, Nichola and I met at Georgia's house, all ready in our cosplays.

Jen went as Winry again - in her blonde wig, red headband, black top and bottom half of a mechanic's overalls. She had brought her wrench the day before but it ended up getting confiscated for safety reasons.

Nichola was again in her Dark costume, purple hair and all. Her complete black outfit looked really cool, but the wig was just too long and strange. So, the school holidays finally started this week. And all I've seemed to be doing is going on my laptop everyday.

On Saturday, I went to Jen's birthday party. Her birthday's not for another week but Nichola's going on holidays this week so she had an early party. We basically watched anime for the whole day (xxxHolic, Chrono Crusade, Vampire Knight, The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, Code Geass etc.), then there was an anime and Twilight trivia quiz that Jen had compiled (with the help of her friend Crystal for the Twilight questions), and then we went to see Dragonball Evolution at Hoyts. So, the holidays ended a week ago and school's started again. At the moment, I'm hating it so much. Seriously, my class has got assignments for Health, History, Science and English, and I've also got a Maths test this Friday. So I've got no time to do anything else (even though I still put off my homework to read fan fiction anyway).

Let's see... Today, I had PE and us girls got to play indoor hockey. Let me tell you; it was violent. There were times where about five or six of us were all trying to hit the puck but it was stuck between us and we ended up hitting each other's feet and legs with the hockey sticks instead. Well, I realised I haven't posted a journal entry for a while so I thought I should give you an update on my life...

Two weeks ago, the drawing tablet that I ordered online came in the mail. I was playing and fiddling with all afternoon that day. But, even now, I still haven't finished drawing anything with it... Ehehe... Really, it's not as easy as it seems. Or maybe that's just me since I have no hand-eye coordination at all.

This Monday, my class had PE in the afternoon. It was our last week of lacrosse so we played an actual game for most of the time. What was funny though was what Nimi said when she threw the ball with her lacrosse

At the beginning of last month, Jen and I started watching Nabari no Ou. We loved it immediately but we wanted the obsession to last so we made a deal that we would only watch one episode a day. We considered showing it to Nichola but then we decided to play a sort of game with her.

We thought, "Hey, if we watched this anime without Nichola, would she notice something's going on?" Let's just say Nichola's not the most observant person we know so we thought this would be an interesting experiment.

Today, my school had another Casual Clothes Day. I wore my shihakusho (shinigami clothes from Bleach) and Jen cosplayed as Yoite from Nabari no Ou.

Anyways, during Japanese, someone came into my classroom to give me a note from the office. Apparently, I had an appointment at the Student Services Centre at 10:20. So I took my books and left. As I was walking there, I wondered why I had been called in today. I thought it was most likely something to do with my clothes.

I got to the counsellor's office and she told me the real reason I was there. "I just wanted to talk to you about the essay you wrote for the NAPLAN testing."

Well, today was quite an interesting day. Actually, the only interesting part happened at the end of the day.

Jen and I had just come out of geography class and were walking to the locker bay to get our bags and leave. On our way there, however, I saw this bright red light and a whole ton of white smoke inside the locker bay. "What... is that?"

We were walking along a path parallel to the lockers, so Jen had to turn her head to see what I was talking about. "What's what?" And then she did see it. "What the..."

it's 4 in the morning. Nichola somehow developed an english accent while we were reading fanfictions. She read them out loud.

08/16/09--02:31: Because everything's funny at 4 in the morning. (chan 2065281)




So here's the deal: Nichola and I decided to do the 40 Hour Famine, where we choose to give up something for 40 hours to raise money for those poor kids in Africa. Nichola decided to give up sleep; I decided to give up food. The official weekend to do the famine is August 21-23 but that's the weekend of Manifest (an anime convention here in Melbourne), and it is not a good idea to be starving and exhausted for that, so Nichola and I did it this weekend instead.

Nichola came over to my house Saturday afternoon (with lots of energy drinks, though you're only supposed to drink one a day, to stay awake). She hadn't slept since 6am that morning

09/17/09--05:04: The Day I Went To School In An Akatsuki Cloak (chan 2065281)




So today was a free dress day at my school, where we were told to wear the colours of a football team we support. Funnily enough, I barrack for Essendon, whose team colours are red and black, so I thought, "Oh, this sounds like a great opportunity to wear my Akatsuki cloak to school."

And so I did.

I got Jen to wear hers, too, despite the fact she supports Brisbane, and Jackson managed to borrow Georgia's so he could also join in. Nichola would've done it, too, but she was sick today.

Okay, so it's 10:50 p.m., I have to go back to school tomorrow and there's loads of holiday homework I'm yet to finish, but... none of that matters because the third Bleach movie, Fade To Black, I Call Your Name, was released with English subtitles today! As of three months ago, I have just about completely lost interest in fanfiction and fanart, although I do seem to be watching more anime nowadays, which is pretty much the complete opposite of what I was like last year.
