I never really planned to come on DeviantArt much, but my website isn't working, and my incredibly slow internet won't let me download episode 66 of Bleach. So you can probably guess that I'm just a bit bored.
By Wednesday morning, I'll be on a plane to China. So today, I went to my uncle's house to drop off my cat, Edward, for him and his wife to take care of until February 7. While we were there, my mum and I cooked sausages, beef, lamb and chicken wings on their barbecue.
Well, I might go draw something now. I know my dear friend Maggie would love it if I spent more time working on things I could upload onto here.

I've been in China for about a week and I hate/love this place.
I hate how there's so many people everywhere we go.
I love how one Australian dollar is worth approximately four and a half Chinese dollars.
I hate how it's so polluted.
I love how there's so many different anime magazines to buy.
I hate how I can't read anything in Chinese.
I love how I found an awesome anime shop with loads of Bleach merchandise.
I hate how they only sell Bleach DVDs with Chinese, not English, subtitles.
I love how we can still eat at McDonald's and KFC.
I hate how we always go out to restaurants and eat Chinese food.
I love how I was able to find the Chinese versions of Twilight and New Moon.
I hate how the Twilight movie hasn't been released yet.
I love how the hairdresser cut my hair like Yuko Ichihara's from xxxHolic.
I hate how I haven't been able to find a kimono to go to Supanova in.
I love how my cousin knows about Bleach and loves it, too.
I hate how I can't download any more Bleach episodes because Veoh.com doesn't work in China.
I love how cheap clothes and stuff are.
I hate how cars and motorbikes are always beeping their horns (even when noone's in the way).
I love how there aren't as many cars as there are in Australia.
I hate how cars don't necessarily stop even if the pedestrian crossing light is green.

Okay, I'm going to Beijing for a few days to see the Great Wall of China and some other tourist attractions.
That means I won't be able to go online for the next five days or so (unless I find some way to get the internet working on my iPod Touch...).

Last Wednesday night, I was on a train from Shanghai to Beijing with my mum, dad and auntie. That was where I was when the year changed to 2009. So the first thing I did this year was using my iPod to watch Bleach while eating strawberry Pocky.
The next day, we arrived in Beijing, and met up with our tour guide. She always held a small yellow flag so that our tour group would know where to go; that's why I always referred to her as 'flag person' (haha, good thing she doesn't understand English).
On that first day, we saw the dead body of Chairman Mao, visited the Chinese equivalent of Parliament House, and took photos of other sights along the way. That afternoon, we took a walk through the Forbidden City where Emperors and Empresses had lived. It was so big! My feet hurt so much that night.
We visited the Great Wall of China the next day. Since our tour group only had about two hours to walk, we took a ride on a sliding seat up to a higher part of the wall. While we were walking, I had my iPod out, watching episodes of Bleach. That was my motivation to keep going. But I was still dead tired by the time we were meant to go back to the hotel.
The next two days, we just visited some other random tourist attractions where my dad took lots of photos and videos while I complained about my dying feet. I did enjoy seeing a few lakes that were completely covered in ice. Though I wasn't allowed to walk onto them, I got to slide around on a part of the ground that was frozen solid. That was fun. I also saw the stadium shaped like a bird's nest where the Olympics took place. Honestly, it wasn't very creative.
So on the night of the fourth day, we slept on a train again. And then the day after, we arrived back here in Shanghai.

Ugh, I just came back from a tour of Beijing two days ago, and now my parents, my aunt and I are going on another tour - this time around some place called Sichuan. And this time it's going to last seven days.
We're taking a plane tomorrow morning, then probably just spending the rest of the day settling into the hotel. But apparently there are going to be four plane rides while we're there, 'cause we're visiting lots of different mountains and stuff. I hope my feet survive... I don't think they've fully recovered yet from walking all over Beijing.
So you know what that means: no internet for me for the next week. I'll try to draw something while I'm there, but I can't guarantee I'll have time for it.

Yesterday, I got back from a seven-day tour around Sichuan. We went up to quite a few mountains but most of the time there was a mini-bus taking us to the sightseeing spots so it wasn't so tiring. My feet feel much better now than when I got back from Beijing.
Ugh, one thing I truly hated about Sichuan was the food. Since it's almost always cold there, they really like to eat spicy food. But luckily, they still had non-spicy food (sometimes). I mostly just ate noodles, dumplings and some dessert-like food.
The tour lasted seven days, but the majority of that time was spent on the road (or in the air). We took a short plane ride from Chengdu to a really sunny place called Jiuzhaigou the second day, and got back by plane on the fourth day. I think it was over 3000m above sea level there so we got a bit lightheaded and low on oxygen (especially at the airport).
The fifth day, we took our tour bus to get to our next destination, Mt. Emei. That mountain's most famous for one thing: monkeys. I got to see quite a lot of them. They were really cute. Well, most of them were. But there was this big monkey who stole one of our bags because it thought there was food in it. It was actually the bag that contained our mittens and scarves and beanies. When that monkey started rummaging through our things, I wanted to kill it. Unfortunately, there were witnesses around and apparently the monkeys are more important than the humans. After the monkey realized there wasn't any food in our bag, he lost interest and ran off, letting one of the mountain ranger people get the bag back.
We rushed back to our previous hotel the day after that. So here's how the schedule went: Chengdu -> Jiuzhaigou -> Chengdu -> Mt. Emei -> Chengdu. There was only one hotel where we stayed two consecutive nights. I got so tired of having to move everyday. I also got really sick of going through security check on the four occasions we went to the airport.
Most nights we got back to the hotel at about ten o'clock at night due to things like a performance show, a trip to the hot spring, or a two-hour road trip. Because of that, I only managed to complete a rough sketch of Yachiru from Bleach. I'll probably get it done in a day or two, but tomorrow I'm going to my mum's parents' house again, where there's no internet and no scanner. I'm going to my cousin's house on the 21st though. She has internet but I'm not sure if there's a scanner... Even so, I shouldn't make drawing my top priority. I got my very own website almost a month ago but it's still not open and I've barely done any work on it. I also told myself I would try to make a MySpace layout and a Bebo skin while I'm in China but I just haven't been bothered. Ah, so many jobs, so little time.

Happy Chinese New Year!
Yes, I know, it's not until the 26th, but at that time I will be staying at my mum's parents' apartment where there is no internet. I'm leaving for their home later today, so I'm spending these last few hours desperately downloading low-quality Bleach episodes off YouTube so I have something to do during my four days of being internet-deprived.
Last week, I went to this little anime shop which I love so much because it has so much Bleach merchandise! This time, I spent the most money out of the five times I've been there. That was mostly because of a Byakuya costume (which I still haven't tried to wear yet...), Ichigo's Zanpakuto in Bankai form (that I'm not sure I'll be able to take out of the country because it's made of wood...), a sling bag with a Hitsugaya picture on it, and several other things.
Just a little more than week left before I go back to Australia, and then I can make my friends jealous of all the anime stuff I've got. Muahahahahahaha... Oh wait, I forgot, I'll have to give some of it away to others as souvenirs... Damn it, what am I going to sacrifice...

My harddrive isn't working!!!
The harddrive that held all my anime...
We took it to get fixed, but then they told us it would be hard to repair...
Now they said there is only a slight chance they could get the videos/photos off of it and put it onto another harddrive...
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
My Bleach videos (65 English subtitled episodes, 34 English dubbed ones, and 2 subtitled movies!!), and Code Geass, and Elfen Lied, and Fruits Basket, and Rozen Maiden, and Shugo Chara!, and xxxHolic, and several others... I may have to download them all over again!
But I guess what's more important are the photos we took while in China, they were all on that harddrive...

Well, my school had a free dress day on Friday. And guess what me and my friends did - we went to school in cosplay!
I wore a pleated grey skirt with a white shirt and grey coat, as well as knee-length black socks. Jen also lent me some red ribbon for me to make a bow. I was trying to look like Rukia in her school uniform from Bleach.
On Wednesday, when I told Jen what I was going to wear, she asked if she could borrow the Byakuya costume I bought in China. It includes the regular death god kimono and sash, as well as Byakuya's white captain's cape with the number six on it. Most of us didn't actually believe she would wear that to school, though I really wanted her to. But she really did wear it! It looked so good, too.
Because me and Jen were going in Bleach cosplay, we made Nichola dress up, too. But since it was all very last-minute, she didn't have an entire costume prepared. So on the day, Jen brought a pair of bear ears to school that Nichola could wear on her head to resemble Kon in his toy lion form.
We could've made Nichola go as Orihime (since she would just have to wear ordinary clothes and Jen already had two blue flower hair pins that she could wear), but if she was Kon, then she would have to call me "Nee-san" while I referred to Jen as "Nii-sama".
The night before, Jen also bought a box of gobstoppers, and then covered the outer with white paper so she could label it as 'Soul Candy' and draw a duck head at the top. We had fun swallowing the green gobstoppers and pretending they were gikongan.
I had also brought my red glove that Rukia uses to push Ichigo out of his body, so throughout the day I would sometimes randomly hit someone with my open palm, hoping their soul would separate from their body (which unfortunately didn't happen).
There were some people who told us that they thought we were crazy to dress up on a casual dress day, but there wasn't as much of a reaction as we thought there would be. Although, there were quite a few people who wanted to know where I got my coat and skirt from (and they were all disappointed every time I answered "China").
Jen brought her sister's camera to school to take a few photos and videos. It ran out of battery pretty fast so we didn't get many shots in the end. I'm having Jen send me the photos after she gets them onto the computer, and then maybe I'll upload them here.

Today was Labor Day, which meant no school - yay! So Nichola decided to use the chance to try and catch up to where I am in Bleach. That was quite impossible to achieve in one day seeing as I'm on episode 158 and she was up to 75.
Nichola came to my house this morning at about quarter past eleven. We immediately locked ourselves (and a lot of snacks) in my room so we could watch Bleach on my laptop. We were up to the Bount arc, which everyone knows is a very long 46-episode filler arc that causes anyone who watches it to almost die of boredom. Nichola didn't have the patience to watch it all. We skimmed through the episodes by only watching the most interesting bits. I think we only watched about five episodes (or less) in their entirety.
Nichola ended up having lunch and dinner at my house (whilst watching Bleach of course), and her mum came to pick her up at about quarter past seven (though she had to wait a while for Nichola to finish watching an exciting part in episode 100).
So there you have it; we watched 26 episodes in 8 hours, even though sometimes we skipped half and even entire episodes altogether. The last time Nichola came over to do something like this, we watched 20 (full) episodes in 9 hours. Back then, we were only up to the Soul Society arc when Ichigo was trying to save Rukia. Ah, good times. I absolutely loved the first three seasons of Bleach; they were the best.
Between the two of us, Nichola and I consumed 14 cups of milk (more or less - I lost count), 3 packets of pocky (two chocolate flavoured, one strawberry), 2 packets of chips (barbeque and ketchup flavoured), 6 chicken nuggets (with a whole lot of tomato sauce) and 2 pieces of chicken schnitzel (with some lettuce too).
Although I just watched anime the entire day, I still feel exhausted. And now I think I have a stomachache, too...
